Mechanical subcooling involves cooling the liquid refrigerant of a low temperature system by evaporating the refrigerant of a high temperature system.

Since high temperature systems are more efficient than low temperature ones, mechanical subcooling provides a net gain in overall efficiency.

Packless chillers function well as subcoolers of either R-12. R-22 or R-502, and yield a low pressure drop for the subcooled liquid.

Seven chiller models are available to offer a wide range of subcooler capacities.

Packless refrigerant subcoolers are covered by one or more of the following U.S. patents: 5409057, 5551504, 5311661.
